PRACTICE AREAS

Intellectual Property

The local Intellectual Property Laws have been overhauled and brought in line with E.U. regulation and with the international conventions in the area to which Malta has adhered.

The Copyright Act of 2000 makes provision in respect of copyright and neighbouring rights and it echoes many E.U. Directives relative to the field in question. The Patents Act of 2000 makes provision for the registration and regulation of patents and designs; it encompasses the principal substantive provisions of the European Patent Convention. The Trademarks Act of 2000 transposes the relative E.U. Directives relevant to the field in question.

Vincent Micallef and Associates prides itself in specialising in all fields of Intellectual Property Law and has also been briefed with respect to the fields of Distributorship, Franchising and Industrial Designs.
